Directed by Joel Coen, Ethan Coen
With Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman
Rated R, 104 minutes
This one-week-in-the-life-of film chooses a difficult, self-destructive subject for its study. A homeless folk singer (Oscar Isaac) seeks success in Greenwich Village in the early 1960s, but faces hardship and disappointment during a harsh winter, along with the various indignities of trying to pull together a life as a musician. Later, he takes a road trip to Chicago in the hope of impressing a club owner who could give him his big break.
