Tell the story in dance! RitmoND will do a short performance of this unique dancing style that has evolved from its sensual African/Spanish origins in the Dominican Republic to a variety of dance styles that connect rhythm and movement. It is now enjoyed throughout the world!
The performance during LCW's World Music & Dance Fest will be followed by an introductory workshop where you can learn to dance the Bachata!
RitmoND is Notre Dame's newest Latin dancing club, which incorporates a range of styles of dance found across the globe! RitmoND was created to provide a space for students to come together to learn and perform various Latin dancing styles, while gaining and sharing a greater appreciation for Latino culture along the way. As a club we offer weekly dance practices, multiple dance workshops led by local and international instructors (Bachata, Merengue, Salsa, Flamenco, and Cumbia to date), dance socials, Salsa Nights, and other exciting events! Every year in the second week of February, the Notre Dame campus is filled with events that showcase and celebrate all of the languages and cultures in our community for Language & Culture Week (LCW).
Throughout the week, there are cultural demonstrations, multilingual Mass, language tables, food, music, poetry readings, dancing, games, movies, and more.
Organized by The Center for the Study of Languages and Cultures, all of the Foreign Languages and Literatures Departments, and many other units at Notre Dame.
