Winner of the 2019 Colombian National Poetry Prize, Rómulos Bustos Aguirre is one of the most celebrated contemporary poets writing in Spanish. Nohora Arrieta (assistant professor of Spanish at UCLA) and Mark Sanders (professor of English and Africana Studies at Notre Dame) recently published the first English-language translation of Bustos’ poetry, Semantics of the World, “an exquisite translation of one of the most important Afro-Colombian poets writing today.”
